Why is my VX not detecting shots properly?

There are several factors that may occasionally prevent the VX from detecting shots:

  • Protective Casing – If using a protective case, ensure the camera lens is not obstructed and that no reflections interfere with the camera’s view.
  • Round White Tees – Certain tees, like Birtees, can affect shot detection.
  • Reflective Equipment – White or highly reflective golf clubs, shiny high-degree wedges, or light-colored/off-white mats can impact tracking.
  • Pre-Swing Movements – Tapping or hovering over the ball before hitting may interfere with detection. If you do so, wait for the "Ready" signal before taking your shot.
  • White hitting surfaces do not work well with the VX because they need to appear dark for proper detection by the cameras.

Solution: If the problem persists, switching to a darker hitting mat should resolve it.

Here’s a mat we have tested successfully: https://golfsimulatorforum.com/forum/protee-golf-simulator/protee-launch-monitors/411877-vx-sand-simulator
