How can I troubleshoot connection issues with the ProTee VX?

If your VX connection fails, use the Troubleshooting tool first. It will guide you through common fixes.
You can also manually open the troubleshooter:

Settings > Device > Troubleshoot (under connection)

Step-by-Step Troubleshooting

1️⃣ Uninstall Antivirus (if installed)

  • Some antivirus software can block VX communication.

  • Temporarily uninstall it and test the connection.
Tip: Remember to reinstall it after testing.

2️⃣ Check USB Suspend Settings (USB connection only)

  1. Open Control Panel > Power Options

  2. Locate USB selective suspend and disable it

3️⃣ Use a Direct Ethernet Connection

  • Connect the VX directly to your PC’s Ethernet port

  • Avoid using routers or switches

  • If your PC lacks an Ethernet port, use a USB-to-Ethernet adapter

4️⃣ Check Network Cable Quality

  • Use a Cat6 or higher Ethernet cable

  • Supports the 1 Gbps connection required for stable VX performance

5️⃣ Disable Energy-Efficient Ethernet

  1. Open Device Manager

    • Windows 10/11: Right-click Start > Device Manager

    • Earlier Windows: Control Panel > System > Device Manager

  2. Expand Network adapters, right-click your wired adapter > Properties

  3. Click the Advanced tab

  4. Locate options like Energy-Efficient Ethernet, Power Saving Mode, Active Suspend, etc.

  5. Set each to Disabled

  6. Click OK
Note: Your network may temporarily disconnect for 5–15 seconds.

6️⃣ Check Power Management Settings

  1. In the same adapter properties window, click Power Management tab

  2. Uncheck “Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power”

  3. Click OK

7️⃣ Check Static IP Settings

  • Ensure your network adapter is set to obtain an IP address automatically, unless your network requires a static IP.

  • Misconfigured static IPs can prevent VX connectivity.

8️⃣ Update Network Adapter Drivers

  1. In Device Manager, right-click your network adapter > Update driver

  2. Check for the latest drivers for your network card and CPU/network chipset

After completing all steps:

  • Your network connection may briefly drop but should reconnect automatically

  • This order resolves most VX connection issues
